Note:-
these times are guidelines and not standards. As such, failure to
achieve the main guideline should not necessarily prevent selection if an athlete
is consistently performing close to the guideline level. Equally, a “one-off”
performance superior to the main guideline, should not guarantee selection if
other criteria stated below are not met.
Other criteria :-
* Achievement of the
Guideline.
* Demonstrated commitment
to achieve the guideline and perform well at the games evidence - regular
training (evidence given to team manager eg. schedules/training logs),
involvement in team preparations eg. fund raising etc.
* Competing for your club
on a regular basis over 2008 and 2009.
* Supporting local events
where you can eg. IOM T&F Champs. 2008.
* Behaviour and conduct
at previous games.
We would rather see a
hard working athlete striving to achieve goals (and in so doing be a great
role model to others) selected ahead of one who is showing little commitment
and offers very little back to the sport.
Team Events.
In relays and the half
marathon competitors should not be taken to “make up the team”. They should
be selected in their own right ie. they should be capable of selection as
individual competitors and not merely as team members.
Development Guideline.
This guideline is aimed
at young athletes under the age of 20 at 31/08/09 or those who are later
starters/developers in the sport and have not competed in the games before.
If athletes have attained this guideline before they will be expected to
have progressed.
All performances will be
considered as from January 2008.
